Recently, there has been an adaptation in industrial cleaning applications to include a wide range of pulsed laser cleaning or de–coating systems used to de–coat paint from delicate surfaces, strip insulation from conductors, engrave surfaces by ablation or remove vulcanizing residue from tire molds.

The development of laser surface cleaning was influenced by the need for a non–abrasive and non–hazardous cleaning process that are also suitable to substitute for the use of chemicals or abrasive blasting systems.

One key problem related to most of the conventional cleaning technologies is the wear of the substrate and the negative environmental impact. Abrasive blasting damages delicate surfaces and creates significant amounts of waste. Using chemical solvents involves liquid waste and potentially hazardous vapors. Such problems led to the development of the first laser systems for this purpose.

From the lab to the plant, the benefits of lasers for surface cleaning of organic material are attracting new applications and at Dalpro, we’re pleased to introduce our newest offering: Laser Cleaning and Surface Preparation Solution.

Prefect for removing paint, lead paint abatement, corrosion, rust, angled surface and weld cleaning, flange and gasket cleaning, or simple general surface cleaning at your industrial site.

With no collateral waste or environmental pollution, Dalpro’s Laser Cleaning can be used on a variety of substrates including:

Metals (steel, aluminum)

Composites

Stone & Cement

Wood and other organic materials

As an added bonus, our laser is a safe, variable power unit which allows the operator precise manipulation of the light beam to clean challenging, high value surfaces without water, chemicals or abrasive materials. The laser leaves the existing irregular or flat substrates like welds, flanges or gasket surfaces in their original state and neither creates nor alters existing profiles or anchor points.

Identifying equipment containing PCBs, such as transformers and capacitors, depends on a variety of factors. Here’s what to look for:

·         When the equipment was manufactured. If it was produced before 1982, chances are it could contain PCBs.

·         Labelling. Be sure to search for labels stating that the equipment contains PCB. Such as old Environment Canada labels.

·         Transformers may contain PCB liquids, PCB-contaminated mineral oil or mineral oil. Found in a variety of locations throughout Canada, PCBs are widely used. Whether pad-mounted, pole-top mounted, in vaults or roof mounted, all transformers that use a liquid coolant may contain PCBs. Dry-type transformers use air for cooling and do not contain PCBs. Once properly decontaminated, the transformer, carcass and core may be recycled.

·         Capacitor manufactured since the 1930s and prior to 1982 . Almost any capacitor made during that timeframe was made with Askarel (common trade name for oil containing high concentration of PCBs), so it can be assumed that all capacitors contain PCBs unless the date of manufacture is known and/or it is clearly labelled non-PCB.

Since our inception in 1993, Dalpro Technologies Inc. has recognized the range and diversity of potentially contaminated equipment. We pride ourselves on being able to offer clients a complete PCB Decontamination package, including testing, mobile units and providing proper information.

Dalpro will provide accurate testing and samples of your transformer oil, before and after the procedure to verify results. All testing is professionally completed in our on-board lab. Being ISO 9001 registered, our equipment is calibrated and maintained regularly to provide the most accurate results. Dalpro can also arrange for 3rd party testing for pre and post decontamination.

Through a combination of regular housekeeping, preventative, episodic, and emergency cleaning of equipment and work areas in a manufacturing or other industrial setting, industrial maintenance greatly benefits your workplace. Keeping equipment properly running, improves the safe work environment for all personnel. Although you may have maintenance personnel onsite, at times you may need outside help.

Depending on the company you use, many different preventative maintenance techniques can be implemented. Usually, specialty industrial maintenance includes performing duties in hazardous or unsafe conditions. Another thing that industrial maintenance contractors may be trained to take care of is emergency spill response. In a situation where there may have been an accident, causing waste or other materials to spill, having a safety plan and contractor arrangements in advance are key.

Cleanup teams will first assess the situation and prevent any further damage from occurring. Another very important job you can have completed is tank cleaning. When a tank has waste or materials in them, they will need to be cleaned periodically in order to comply with industry standards. An Industrial cleaner will wash, scrub and sanitize your tanks to ensure they can be used safely moving forward.

At Dalpro, we know firsthand that when your equipment and machinery is clean, it is safer and more efficient. Chemical storage tanks can hold materials from acids, caustic, petroleum, food, pharmaceuticals, and even paint and they require cleaning for various reasons, including:

·        Housekeeping

·        Mechanical problems

·        Mixer failure

·        New chemistry

·        Inspection

·        And More!

Typically, whenever this time comes around, sludge has accumulated inside the tank and must be removed. By regularly cleaning and inspecting your machinery, you can cut down on time spent for unscheduled maintenance and repairs. It will also keep your equipment properly working by reducing wear and tear.

Industrial cleaning helps your machines, but it helps your personnel. By keeping equipment clean and performing at its best, it will create a safer work environment for your employees who are working with that equipment.

Wastewater treatment may not appear to have much relevance to you in your daily life, but it is an essential part of all homes, businesses, and cities. If something goes wrong with your water waste system, it could be a costly fix in your home or business.

Here are some essential things you need to know about water waste treatment.

  • Wastewater Treatment is Natural

Nature does a good job of treating low levels of natural wastewater and pollution. However, with the increased billions of tons of sewage produced, it was never created to keep up. Thus, wastewater treatment was designed to help offset the amount of waste.

Wastewater is everywhere and includes most substances created from humans ¬– sinks, showers, bathtubs, toilets, washing machines to name a few. Wastewater treatment is designed to clean the “used water” so it can be reintroduced back into our water usage.

  • Wastewater Is Everywhere

It may be more helpful to view water waste as sewage waste. It happens when you go to the restroom, take a shower, wash your hands, eat at a restaurant, and everywhere in between. Water surrounds us, water waste is also a part of our everyday, often without us realizing it.

  • Water Waste Can Be Dangerous

If not correctly handled, water can carry diseases. That’s why it’s essential that water is treated properly before it’s reintroduced into our usage. Our lives revolve around water, and proper treatment can be a health concern for all of us.

  • Water Waste Can Be Managed

The role of wastewater management is to remove suspended solids (human waste, soaps, chemicals, oils, etc.) before the remaining water is reintroduced back into the environment.

Since our inception in 1993, Dalpro Technologies Inc. has always had a strong environmental policy . Not only do we demonstrate a constant commitment to maintain an effective health and safety program in-house and when on-site at customer locations, we also set initial objectives and targets with respect to environmental performance, consistent with our aspects and impacts, and regularly revise our outlook to continually improve environmental performance.

The internal surfaces of a newly installed boiler contain deposits of residual oil, grease and protective coating inherent in manufacturing procedures. Such coatings must be removed, as they reduce the heat transfer rate and could result in tube rupture from overheating. The primary objective of pre-cleaning a boiler is to remove these impurities and should always be performed on each new boiler put in service, as well as on existing boilers each time tubes are replaced.

It’s no secret that left untreated, hard water and scaling can be major problems for industrial companies. Scale build-up is often present in condensers, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, cooling towers and compressors – just to name a few. Descaling is important for effective heat transfer, as build-up can affect operations, leading to both minor and major inefficiencies.
